Booster at 2:1 ratio on a 28-kHz ultrasonic transducer
Amplitude transformation units or “boosters” allow the application-oriented adaption of the work amplitude. In our case, a fine needle tip (< 30µm) shall be protected from breaking during die micro machining. Here, the booster serves to reduce the amplitude by the factor 0.5. In case of ultrasonic drilling, if screwed in reversely, the booster doubles the amplitude for a higher removal rate.
